Josie Duncan
Registered Midwife
Josie is an Indigenous midwife of mixed ancestry from Xatśūll First Nation, Scotland, and Lithuania. She grew up in a remote town in the Interior of BC called Lac La Hache, then attended UBC and completed a Bachelor of Science and Bachelor of Midwifery. She is grateful to be living on the unceded territories of the Musqueam, Squamish, and Tsleil-Waututh Nations.
Throughout her education she co-developed research and initiatives aimed to build and strengthen the IBPOC midwifery community. At the centre of her midwifery care is honouring the birthing person’s beliefs, identities, cultures, traditions, and ceremonies. She is proud to be a part of the exceptional team at South and thrilled to support you in your journey.
Josie’s perfect day off is riding her e-bike to the beach, cooking with her partner, Mack, and indulging in ice cream and a reality TV show.
