Clare McCormack
Registered Midwife, UBC Clinical Faculty
Clare is an Ontario-local who fell in love with the west coast while living in San Francisco. After graduating from the McMaster Midwifery Program she came west and made her home in East Vancouver. Clare has an honours degree in Political Science from McMaster University and a postgraduate certificate in Public Relations but knew for a long time that her heart was with the art and science of midwifery practice. She grew up on a horse farm and as long as she can remember she has been around birth. In many ways, Clare intuitively learned how to be a midwife as a child helping horses birth their foals!
Clare believes strongly in informed choice and in midwives’ ability to facilitate empowering experiences for families. She genuinely loves the process of getting to know clients and their families and building a trusting and safe relationship throughout their care; people will always remember the way they are treated on the day their child is born and it is an absolute privilege to support clients and their families during this crucial time.
When she is not working as a midwife you are likely to find her scoping out new restaurants and cafes around the city, browsing interior design blogs, chasing around after her two energetic young boys or editing photos and film.
