Astrid Christoffersen-Deb

Obstetrician/Gynecologist, BC Women's Hospital

Dr. Astrid Christoffersen-Deb is an obstetrician/gynecologist providing high-risk maternity care for patients at South Community Birth Program and in the community, as well as gynecological care for SCBP and South Hill patients. She works closely with our Nurse Practitioner, Lori Wolfe. Astrid went to medical school at McGill University and completed her OB/GYN training at Harvard University. She completed her doctorate in Social Anthropology in the UK.

Following her training, Astrid lived and worked in Western Kenya for 7 years before moving to Vancouver and joining the team of obstetricians at BC Women’s Hospital. She provides care at the Early Pregnancy Assessment Clinic and on the Maternity unit.

She has a special interest in global health, and the many interconnections that exist between our health and society. She is a community health worker at heart and is deeply committed to advancing novel models of care that make people feel valued and included. She speaks English, French, Danish, Spanish and Kiswahili.

She has just returned from maternity leave and is keeping very busy with her 3 young children!
