I have a deep love of working with families. This started in my role as a doula over 25 years ago, and by providing care and education to special needs children. After completing my Bachelor of Science in Nursing at UBC in 2010, I thrived in BC Women’s Birthing Program, working as an RN and Charge Nurse in Labour & Delivery, the Urgent Care Centre, and the Operating Room. I love how each birth and postpartum experience is unique, and enjoy tailoring my care to individual needs and desires. I also enjoy supporting the professional development of others, and have done so as a preceptor and mentor at BC Women’s, in my previous role of Clinical Instructor with BCIT’s Perinatal Specialty Program, and whenever the opportunity presents itself as learners come across my path.
You will now find me in an outpatient clinic at BCW providing reproductive healthcare, and at SCBP where I am the Nursing Team Lead. My role at SCBP has provided me with the opportunity to support families in pregnancy in the Connecting Pregnancy program (LOVE it!), and through the tender and magical time of adjustment in the early weeks with their new babe. I also run the Postpartum Drop-in Group at South, come check it out when you’re through the initial postpartum haze! https://scbp.ca/workshop/postpartum-drop-in-group
Although I am proud of my professional life, I am more proud of my family. My favourite thing to do is hang with my partner, two beautiful grown children, and our fuzzy babes. I enjoy travelling/camping, reading, getting in the garden, and balancing being active with sitting on my butt watching a good series.
