Pregnant women living in Vancouver do not need a referral to come to SCBP. They can self-refer but many are informed of the program by their family physician. The program is open to women who live in Vancouver. We do not accept women living outside Vancouver (eg; Burnaby, Richmond, Surrey or North Vancouver) but we are happy to refer you to another doctor or midwife in those areas.
The first step is to call us at 604-324-2201 to discuss how the program works with our administrator. You can also drop into our office at #201 - 5838 Fraser Street to pick up a package of information about our program.
If SCBP sounds right for you, book an appointment to meet with one of our care providers.
Your first appointment with us is a one-on-one session with a family physician or registered midwife. You can ask questions and learn about how our program works and if it is right for you. At the next two to three appointments, you will have a full physical, and all prenatal testing will be discussed and completed. You and your partner will then be invited to join a Centering Pregnancy group with other women and their partners, all due to give birth around the same time as you. The group setting is a great chance to hear that other women are experiencing the same things you are. If you choose not to join a CP group, we will continue to see you one-on-one throughout your pregnancy.
